I am excited to tell you that in a few weeks we will be having two Africa trip fundraisers in Phoenix. As most of you know, Mending the Soul for over a decade has been helping trauma survivors around the world. Since 2007 we have placed a particular emphasis on the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC) in light of the intense needs there.
This spring Celestia and I will be leading a small team to conduct trainings for about 75 Congolese leaders living in refugee camps in western Uganda. We will then travel to Goma, Congo to train 25-30 of our most trusted partners there.
So, on Friday night, March 29, 6:30-7:45 PM, we will host an Africa fundraiser in NW Phoenix at the home of Mark and Linda Hoyt, 524 W. Olesen Rd., Phoenix, 85085. On Saturday night, March 30, 6:30-8 PM, we will have an identical presentation on the east side of the valley at the home of Helen Williams, 3050 N 38th Ave, Mesa, 85215.
These two nights we will give an audiovisual report of last year’s trip when we trained South Sudanese leaders also living in refugee camps. Then we will share about the 2019 trainings for Congolese leaders. This will be a very encouraging night to hear what God is doing in some of the most destitute places of the world. Our goal this year is to raise at least $50,000—for our 2019 trainings, to translate and print our new By His Wounds: Trauma Healing for Africa Workbook, and to provide aftercare support for those we train.
I would love to have you join us March 29 or 30. Both nights we will offer a light dinner. So we know how to plan, please go to https://mendingthesoul.org/contact-us and let us know if you plan to join us.
