Professionals trained in the Mending the Soul model may choose to facilitate therapy groups in their practices. These groups are similar to lay facilitated MTS adult or student groups, but offer some unique differences. The groups are led by at least one licensed therapist or a therapist-in-training supervised by a licensed therapist. Therefore, they are considered mental health treatment. Professional groups typically involve a weekly fee for the group and therapists may be able to provide a receipt that is sometimes billable to health insurance. These groups can be very useful for individuals just beginning their healing journey, those that have been particularly wounded by ministry leaders and/or churches and therefore, don’t feel safe in those environments, and individuals wanting heightened confidentiality.
