Professionals trained in the Mending the Soul model may choose to facilitate therapy groups in their practices. These groups are similar to lay facilitated MTS adult or student groups, but offer some unique differences. The groups are led by at least one licensed therapist or a therapist-in-training supervised by a licensed therapist. Therefore, they are considered mental health treatment.
Professional groups typically involve a weekly fee for the group and therapists may be able to provide a receipt that is sometimes billable to health insurance. These groups can be very useful for individuals just beginning their healing journey, those that have been particularly wounded by ministry leaders and/or churches, and therefore don’t feel safe in those environments or are wanting heightened confidentiality.
Are you a professional wanting to use the MTS materials in your practice both in and out of state? Please contact Tanya, a licensed counselor and director of MTS training, to find out more.
If you are unable to find someone listed here in your area, we suggest contacting local churches or your state’s board of licensed counselors and therapists for a list of professionals near you.
Please also feel free to contact our counseling partner, Journeys, for general questions about counseling.
