FAQs

General

  • Mending the Soul, Second Edition: Understanding and Healing Abuse is updated and expanded with a few new chapter titles that still correlate with the corresponding chapter content in the workbook. The reference portions of the workbook have been re-paginated to reflect the newly expanded book.

  • Mending the Soul’s healing groups are designed to be safe and compassionate communities to heal from trauma and abuse. Each small group has a trained facilitator and co-facilitator who commit to their own healing first before helping others. They gently guide the discussions and offer support. MTS groups use the Mending the Soul resources (book and workbook) to walk through an integrated healing process. Typically the groups consist of 4-5 women or men (no co-ed groups), who have also experienced trauma and abuse.

  • Typically, Explore groups meet weekly for 6-8 weeks, and Mending the Soul groups meet weekly for 12-14 weeks.

  • You can “find a group” here.

  • We offer online groups! Simply go to “find a group”, expand the map, and type in “online” in the search bar. After completing a group, consider starting a group in your area by following these guidelines.

  • You can expect safety, confidentiality, trust, compassion, and comfort. Once you reach out to a trained facilitator, he/she will set up a time to meet with you to share part of his/her story, listen to part of your story and what brings you to MTS, and the expectations and guidelines of the group.

  • After participating in a MTS small group, you will need to go through our online facilitator training.

  • Simply follow the steps of our start-up guide.

  • MTS provides the curriculum and an online facilitator training. Included in the training is a facilitator guide, which covers best practices. Nevertheless, MTS facilitators are independent from Mending the Soul. While Mending the Soul provides training and best practices for facilitators, we do not manage, organize, or supervise facilitators or groups. If anyone has questions or concerns regarding a facilitator, please feel free to leave us an anonymous message by calling 866-535-5044.
