Our U.S. Work

“Mending the Soul helped me come face to face with traumatic events I had buried inside, and a powerful thing happened. God showed me something I had long been denying: I was worthy of His love.”

James, Mending the Soul participant

Since 2003, Mending the Soul has been creating theologically precise, psychologically informed, and research-driven resources for US churches and organizations to offer healing in Jesus’ name to those who have experienced trauma and abuse. Mending the Soul’s trauma care model is to effectively equip communities to offer an informed and compassionate response to trauma and abuse through our resources utilized in small healing groups. Each facilitator of the small group commits to their own healing first before helping others.

The primary resources used in Mending the Soul’s small groups are Mending the Soul: Understanding and Healing Abuse and the companion workbook, written by Dr. Steve Tracy (M.Div, Th.M., Ph.D.) and Celestia Tracy (MA, Counseling/Psychology). These resources not only provide education on the nature and effects of abuse but guide survivors through an interactive and integrated process of healing in community. Mending the Soul’s desire is that all would have access to healing and wholeness!

In addition, Mending the Soul is passionate about reaching populations within the US, who have experienced the most trauma and abuse, and have the fewest resources. As a result, Mending the Soul helps create contextualized resources for specific communities who have the highest rates of trauma and abuse. In partnership with Indian Bible College, our native resource team recently contextualized the Mending The Soul Workbook for the 574 tribes in the US. More than four in five Native Americans have experienced some form of violence in their lifetime, and now they have Christ-centered trauma care for their specific community!

"Mending the Soul helped me let the light of God shine into these very dark places … that’s where the healing can begin.”

“Mending the Soul has healed those “makes you sit and cry at night” places.”

"Mending the Soul changed my life."
